Thanks for tagging me and sorry it's taken me a bit! I've been so, so busy. ;o; Haven't had a day off in awhile and probably won't for awhile, either. Guess that's what it is to be creating a business, though. Bleh. Hopefully I can cut back on doing these shows soon!

Here are my questions:

1. What are you afraid of the most?
Well, I could go for the easy answer and say 'spiders,' but I think in reality the thing I'm afraid of most is becoming a person I don't like or respect. I want to get a little better each day, but I miss how easily I gave to others when I was younger. At some point I have to keep myself aloof from people who will use me or not give back equally but it makes me feel like an ass. <<

2. Favorite anime/ manga series? (You can make a list if you want)
Attack on Teetan (sorry, that's what my fiance and I call it. lol But after reading your responses, matcharrie, I agree that it would be an awful world to live in. lol)
I used to love Bleach and then it went on too long and now . . . ehhhhhh

3. Do you have a specific theme you're drawn to? (E.g. Pastel, cute, gore, creepy, bright, colorful, mysterious, steampunk, etc.)
Um . . . I'm not sure? I feel like any and all of it can be appealing? I tend to switch it up a lot, though I'd like to start having some more story-telling in my work. I dunno. Other peoples' work it depends on my mood.

4. Do you have any hobbies or projects you're working on?
lol So many, man, I've got a ton of commissions to work on right now.

5. Have you traveled overseas before? If you haven't been overseas- where would you like to travel to?
Yes! I went to Ireland for a month in college. I'd like to go more, though, I was hoping for my honeymoon we could travel around Europe.

6.  Do you have any pets? If you don't have pets: Would you have a pet, and what would it be?
A tortoise, his name is the Lil Kun. lol I want, like, forty dogs, though. Big ones that can surround me in their fluffiness!

7. Favorite YouTubers?
Jenna Marbles, I don't watch a whole lot of Youtubers, though, because I don't have time. ;o; Where did all my time go, I used to have so much~~~

8. If you were trapped in the universe of the last series you watched/ read, what would you do?
Uh well I decided I was gonna check out this 'Killer Kids' show for some reason so, like . . . learn how to be okay with kicking children in the face? I don't know what else I could do, man. Before this I was watching iZombie and I'd probably avoid being made a zombie in that case, man.
Like neither of these are series I want to be stuck in??? WTF

9. Do you believe, or are curious about, aliens, the supernatural, or the paranormal?
I used to watch all kinds of alien shows on the History Channel. lol I do believe in aliens and the supernatural, at least, though I'm not sure about the paranormal. Don't really want to see a ghost and have managed to avoid it so far, at least to my knowledge. I probably just jinxed myself, though. <<

10. Favorite place to relax?
My muthafuckin couch, bruh. It's all kinds of comfy. lol

11. Who are your main art inspirations?
Well it used to be a bunch of comic book and manga artists but I don't even know anymore. Dali? Just surrealism in general? But I end up making a lot of just realist kinda empty pieces so I can sell them and survive, yo. Or, well, they have some stuff in them but a fanart piece I draw never has the angst of a personal drawing. Maybe someday I can just do my own work. :sigh:

12. Favorite color?
Bruh fuck dat, I love all the colors. They can all come to my parties.

13. Favorite mythical creature?
Um obviously dragons. Like silver and gold dragons from D and D that can turn into people and all that crap, too. I always thought that was awesome.

1. What movie inspired you?
For some reason it isn't letting me unbold??? Okay. But I guess Lord of the Rings was pretty inspirational for me when I was younger, though honestly I haven't watched a movie in a long time. I do watch a lot of TV, though, while I'm drawing.

2. How do you prefer to watch TV shows? One episode or all at once?
Both are rewarding for different reasons but I do tend to binge. =O

3. What is your favorite tale/legend/myth?
I've always been partial to the Greek Gods, though I can't say I know a lot of their legends anymore. I'd probably just be like: Yeeeeeahhhhhh I remember that, awesome! <<

4. Do you have a favorite character? Tell me, please
I don't think there's a specific one?? But I find I tend to gravitate toward snappy, unique dialogue and the complex characters. That all gets me. Ahhhh!

5. Who is the most charismatic villain in your opinion?
OMG though Ian Somerholder's version of Damon gets me E'RY TIME. ALSO the Phaaaaaaaaannnntom of the Opera is there . . . inside my mind!

6. What is your favorite holiday?
I don't really get to celebrate them much anymore since all my stupid shows are during them, but I guess 4th of July since no one judges you if you get drunk and eat all the hot dogs . . . or maybe Thanksgiving, but only if there isn't any weird family shit. I ain't about that.

7. What holidays you don't like?
I dunno . . . I don't mind any of them, I just hate when people go: I HAVE TO CELEBRATE ON THIS DAY cuz like, chill. Why can't your mama wait until tomorrow for her present? Not my fault you asked me to draw a group of people at 3pm the day of. Wish I could help you, buddy.

8. Do you prefer sweet or salty?
If my one tooth didn't get God damn sensitive you better believe it would be sweet . . . but it's salty. As long as it isn't too salty?? My fiance just empties all the salt on his food and it's confusing??? Why are you doing that but you don't like to drink water??????????

9. Are You a Lark, an Owl, or a Hummingbird?
Probs an owl that has fits of hummingbirdness.

10. Do you listen to music on headphones or through speakers?
Ya know . . . I prefer headphones because it feels much more personal, but I tend to do speakers now.

11. Do you live in a private house or apartment? Do you like it?
Uggggggghhhhh apartment . . . and no . . . I want a DOG DAMN IT ;o; All I can have is my turtle! He's cute but he scratches me when I try to cuddle him!! Might be able to FINALLY get a house soon, though, I'm so, so tired of renting. =') 8 years of that shit, man. I am ready.

12. What kind of weather do you like?
If I'm inside I really like storms, but generally I like that faint balmy-ness where you can feel the heat but aren't dying yet.

13. What is your favorite fandom?
I don't know??? I feel like I should have one but I get bored easily so I'm always involving myself in new shit.

Oh man well I actually have had this account for a hella long time and have hidden really, really old works among somewhat old works so I'll just share what's on here. I started drawing, actually, because of this picture of Asuka from Neon Genesis: Evangelion on the back of my Pokemon comic. I thought she looked so cool and I really wanted to be able to draw like that, so my first forays into art were all anime-style monstrosities. I've actually shared some of this with some of you before (or you've found it - which, good job digging. lol) but I'll do it again. I'm kind of at a point with my older works where I think it's really, really helpful to share, especially since I'm constantly getting comments about how 'talented' I am, like I just sprang out of a box with my current art. Nope. I was very, very bad for a number of years and it took time and effort to get where I am, now. I developed my skills through copying images in how-to-draw anime books my mom's friend got me and out of magazines, so I highly advocate that people who are still learning do things like that. Honestly, copying is how ya learn, guys, and it's okay so long as you cite your sources. Pretty much all of my work still involves using references, don't be afraid of them. Just be honest. Anyone who gets on your ass after that can suck it.

1. Anyways, here's my first share with a number of examples of Old, Bad Shit. The pieces range from 2001 (I was 9-10) to 2006 (I was 14-15). I know there are older pieces than this but I have no idea where they'd be. My mom has some kind of chest holding all my old art so I'll have to dig when I visit her at some point, I guess. It's weird, I have better memories of these characters than I do a lot of my childhood, but I still haven't touched them in a long time. All of them were pretty important when I was younger - I got a lot of inspiration (and still do, sometimes) from my dreams and was constantly writing them down when I woke up. I think medicating my depression has quelled a lot of my crazy dreams and creativity, unfortunately, but I think it's alright because art has become much more of a job for me instead of the therapy it was for me when I was younger. Anyways.



2. Here's a side-by-side of the original piece and the redraw (which is actually just above). I was so proud of both of these pieces and was just starting to experiment with Photoshop in the first. I think they're only a year apart, actually. WTF.


3. How well I remember this one - BECAUSE I COLORED IT WITH A MOUSE. I HAD TO WEAR A BRACE. (I used to love drawing dragons, man. Dragons everywhere, all the time. My other source of inspiration for art were Dungeons and Dragons books. I am a huge nerd. lol)



4. This is from 2009 (I was 17-18) and it's of my character, Silver, from the webcomic I drew when I was in high school. I got really into comic books (see, nerd), specifically Michael Turner, creator of Fathom. I tried to emulate him a lot. Honestly my personal 'style' is still a lot like this but I've chosen to embrace my realism more. I've blended the two a bit in some pieces I've done but yeah . . . I dunno. I've found more personal satisfaction in my realism as time has gone on even if I loved drawing in my style when I was younger.



5. This is also from 2009. According to the description I didn't have a good range of pencils or my blenders but, like, wow. Looking at the roughness of this makes me realize my style in realism has changed a lot over the years, too. This is a good likeness of them but it's very dark and grainy. I'd be a lot lighter in my touch, now, and a lot more careful with the directions of the lines in the dark areas.



I mean, just posting these feels weird. I'm leaving out a lot of college stuff but I don't have a ton of it documented and put on here because I stopped going on dA my freshman or sophomore year and stayed off until about two years ago. I also took a two year break from art after college because I was so burned out and just wasn't deriving any pleasure from it anymore, so when I got back into it there was an additional learning curve again in order to be able to do things as quickly and accurately as I used to. My Ace of Hearts piece, for instance, was the first drawing I did to get back in it and it took me about twenty hours. Now it would take me probably about five or six, which is a drastic reduction. lol
But alright, I chose a variety in my latest works so they aren't actually all my 'latest' since that would pretty much all be pencil, but they have all been completed within the past few months.

1. As I have gotten older I've gotten much slicker at comebacks and it makes me happy. =') Little Emma would be so proud of Older Emma because she couldn't do comebacks for shit.

3. I don't tan. Don't try to convince me it's possible because the only way it happens is through repeated burnings. lol
